HTI 3 - History Theory and Ideas 3

For this module, we learnt about the interesting facts and history behind some of the design thinking and design style. It also teaches us about some of the controversial views and opinions that shaped the design beliefs that we have, today.

SEMINAR & RESEARCH

For this assignment, we were grouped into groups. Together, all of us did the research and we summarised and paraphrased the information that we got online. Eventually, we compiled all the information that we gathered into slides where we have to do a presentation in front of the class.

EFFECTS OF MEDIA

The media has an effect on many aspects of our life such as: individual views and beliefs. Just from the spreading of false information, it can skew a person’s knowledge in a certain topic. A media influence is mainly possible when the message gets across to the people.

HISTORY OF BEAUTY

Why do beauty standards change over the years? Is our concept of beauty based in nature or society? Humans are very easily influenced by the visuals and experiences, then what we have been exposed to at young age becomes our ‘ideal’. In this digital age, where the media blossoms, with the unrealistic body expectation through the portrayal of extremely unhealthy models. The longer we are exposed to such, the more likely we are to perceive as it is the only right ‘ideal’. Who is then dictating how we should look like?
