The Dutch design is invaluable and unique. They came up with many different interesting and innovative designs which are practical, visually aesthetic and functional. It is something that defines them and that they can call it their own. Unlike Dutch, I think Singapore does not have it own ‘Singaporean’ design. An example would be how HDB defines us and gives us our identity but the first idea of building an HDB flat did not originate in Singapore. It came from other designers which Singaporeans think that it would be a good idea to have HDB flats as it saves space and Singapore is a small country which has to try and accommodate millions of people. Therefore, I do not think that Singapore has its own Singaporean design.
